They don’t believe that nonsense about pedophilia. They use it because it works. Look it’s got you talking about it, and the more you deny it, you continue talking about liberals and pedophilia in the same sentence. The confused end up with “where there’s smoke, there must be fire”. What the extreme right wing is really threatened by is the same old story: Her Negritude, her blackness. The darkening of America’s population. The first place they went was to cross out KBJ and make it CRT. We all know how qualified for the job she is, yet her color makes her suspect. They threw every kind of mud they could think of, until something sticks. Whatever the media fixates on is the criteria for what’s “sticking”. But I’m just sayin’….
Donald Trump is sooooo jealous of Putin. He says that his invasion of Ukraine was a stroke of genius. He wishes he could have done the same thing here. I dunno, invade Mexico?
Cyber attacks make aircraft carriers, battleships, jets and tanks nothing more than trillion dollar scrap metal.
1917 WWI soldiers used garden slugs to detect mustard gas. 2022 Putin threatens to use chemical weapons again.
The 300 million a day spent over 20 years in Afghanistan was used to build palatial mansions for Afghan officials.
The billion dollars being offered to Ukraine will no doubt be handed to corrupt Ukrainian officials.
Thanks for the bigger picture Chris. The USA has always been stubbornly and hubritically naive of what it is supposed to be. Comment on political social economic nuance is essential. Thanks
Root of the problem is infighting between the Republican and the Democratic. “A house divided against itself cannot stand.” -Abraham Lincoln. US is more divided then anytime in history.
One point that also needs to be made is that it is exceedingly rare for one democracy to go to war against another. After all, the people usually do not want war and in a democratic state the people get what they want. Therefore, if you want a world without war, banishing autocracy would seem the way to get there.
I’m more worried now than I was during the Cold War because whatever you want to say about the Commies, they were at least sane.
if “lock ’em up” reduced crime, why doesn’t US have less crime than any other country?
post hoc, NOT propter hoc.
The billions made off the war by those who advocated for it is the key to the Republicans today.
To be fair, I am a liberal, but, this soft on crime thing, is a thing in new orleans, I’ve been to jail for a tiny amount of drugs. People here in new orleans that commit violent crimes, don’t go to jail. So don’t act like it isn’t a thing.
We used to believe evil came from Empires, not lone nuts who crave more and more power. Let’s hope that this time we find a more concise way to fight the men, and not the countries.
It was a civilizational battle. You are wrong. The reason you can say what your are saying is that we did fight the Terrorist and their ideology. Yes liberal democracies have a new challenge in Putin’s Russia and maybe soon Xi’s China. Just because there are new enemies doesn’t mean old enemies were less of a threat or that those old enemies don’t continue to be a threat.
What’s the point of having sentencing guidelines if Senators are going to claim jurists are “soft” if their sentences fall within those guidelines? It is so obviously just Republicans being sensationalist.
I love that it’s from Chicago, stay
An insightful and brilliant commentary. Although, I believe that the terrorist ideology is still a treat to democracy. Mr. Hayes does not recognize of give credit to the fact that one of the reasons that it does not seem so large of a threat today is because of the efforts and sacrifices that were made by many to stop its advancement. Still, it is none the less true that its treat has been over shadowed so to speak by the pressing threat posed today by authoritarianism and fascism.
It’s funny watching Chris Hayes trying to be intellectual.
I guess he’s been watching Tucker and dreaming of being respected.
They are all white
WHAT DOES JEFFREY EPSTEIN AND SERGEANT ROBERT JUSTIN ALFORD GREEN AT NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE HAVE IN COMMON…..
It’s refreshing to see a newscast that considers the broad sweep of history.
I have to wonder, if Putin fails in Ukraine will it represent a high water mark for the current wave of autocracy, or is it just the beginning.
Anyone notice the triangle In the sky where the tanks were shown?!!
That’s a doctored video!! The UFO seen over Moscow!!! The UFO was filmed by Russians in their car!!! The triangle was also filmed over the pentagon!!!
This fight for democracy vs autocracy has been going on for a while now. It didn’t just start with Russia invading Ukraine. A lot of Americans including most.of my family members are willing to sacrifice democracy just so their ‘side’ can win
