The Republicans are economic and social terrorists, their dogma of small or no government means that they want to dismantle the USA. Since Reagan, their trickle-down dogma has stolen income and wealth from the middle class and started America’s slide to 2nd rate status.
that is one way to put it, but a more accurate way of stating the issue about our institutions is that they been corrupted to the point of being detrimental to society as whole for 15 year, and with emergence of digital media they are longer able to artificially manufacture consent with any level of competence and that leaves the American peoples world view vulnerable to the grifting of bad actors
My father grew up in Nazi Germany, turned 21 three weeks after Hitler killed himself. He got his M.D. in Germany, and became an American citizen in 1956. He had a keen interest in our politics all his life, and when Trump ran for office and was elected, he turned to me and said, ” I’ve lived through this before….I’ve seen this before, and America is going the wrong way. This will be very bad for this country”. He died in 2018 at the age of 93, and sadly, if he were alive today, he wouldn’t be surprised by any of this.

Those things are extremely unlikely to come back. Life is change, and we’ve changed as a society in a manner which makes many of those “norms” outdated. However, the *role* they played is indeed important, and we need to establish new norms to replace them, to fulfill the role of “civilizing forces” which are vital to ensuring a stable (though vital and growing), functioning society. To use an old analogy, we have entered the late adolescent phase of our society, with the sorts of restlessness, uncertainty, and outright obstreperousness one sees in late teens (particularly males, though it’s there in both). With thoughtful leadership and time, this CAN be worked out; but, as things stand, we have anything BUT thoughtful leadership and, therefore, time is pressing to find workable solutions. It’s going to be an uphill battle, but it really must be done, or this country is going to completely devolve into chaos and utter nihilism (*not* anarchy which, under the right circumstances, *can* be a healthy, positive thing, though I doubt we’re mature enough yet to achieve that). I’m not overly sanguine, I must admit… but we have to at least do our best, or this country is going to go through more trying times than we’ve ever dreamt of save in the bleakest of science fiction dystopian nightmares…..
McConnell, GOP Senate and Barr plus a deranged president have created all of this. Please keep in mind;
No Fraud in election in 2020. They have been proven 57 times false fake court cases, plus legal election count and re count of ballots, plus electoral college certified. Democrats per our Constitution, has the right to remove every GOP who performed sedition and supporting to try an over throw the election and Democracy. There is a word for “de-institutionalization”. It’s FREEDOM- American institution have grown so big, so bloated, so corrupt..they have evolved into the deep state. Pelosi turned down a 1.8 trillion dollar deal in October when the people needed it bad just for a 900 billion dollar deal now, where many of those same businesses who needed the money are now closed…. But it’s okay because we now a “New President”, right Pelosi????? You have now put political party FIRST over the people. But idiots here commenting are ignorant and just can’t see it. Do the research, she admitted turning down the bigger deal because Trump is president but accepts it now because Biden is the new president.
The underclass is growing. Those who can’t afford a house and have a decent standard of living even with working 70-80 hours per week. The high prices of a college education and medical costs are reducing the options for people.
