I did not vote for this mayor exactly because of his plans to use the anti- plain clothes unit
If the police are part of the community, there is nothing wrong with enforcing laws that the community agrees on, in a way that holds all members, including those officers, accountable. We need to agree on the laws and methods first. That’s where all of our problems lay.
They pulled brown shirts at the riots, hows that resemble democratic principle ?

Many of the people in positions of power and influence haven’t been in America enough generations to really care about what’s happening. It’s part of the reason why they keep repeating the same tactics that do more harm than good over time. It’s also about money, power and social status. They don’t seem to want to really change the bad reputations cities like NYC has. They’re probably considered more marketable as they are, which is a real shame. None of it is new and it’s been a problem for many years. .

The gentleman interviewed in this sequence clearly would’ve made a great Mayor. Better someone like this, who worked his way up and has community relationships, plus is incredibly articulate and thoughtful (that’s not said as racist patronizing since I suspect he’d have been better than any other mayoral candidate). There’s nothing wrong with tough on crime if you stay within the Constitution and do not abuse the innocent. Is letting crime rip the alternative?
