I don’t think the world is ready for this conversation. Toxic masculinity is still very prevalent in sports, law enforcement, the military, etc.
And by “traditional masculinity”, he’s talking about the modern/boomer’s idea of what masculinity is. If anyone bothers to remember Achilles, the single greatest heroic figure of the western civilization, didn’t actually become likeable until he showed basic human empathy. People have been contemplating this conundrum via stories ever since we could tell them across all cultures; I’ll save you decades of researching it, the answer is cultivating empathy along with all other attributes in your life you deem virtuous.

A wonderful conversation to have at this time and thank you for writing this book. I believe true strength, whether you’re a man or woman, is to know you have an advantage over another person, whether physical, economic, or otherwise and to choose to treat that person like an equal anyway.
Don’t you just get fed up with celebrities who think they know everything about everything or post personal and should be private things on social media citing ‘they want to bring attention to something that we have been aware of for decades or centuries.
