Kurt A. gets really close to the truth, but misses ever so slightly. He correctly identifies Milton Friedman as the start of the turn economically, but why was he elevated to the position of power that he was? When the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was passed, Republicans took a hard turn and while it took a while to have impact they essentially froze the minimum wage at a peek of buying power in 1968 and started working it lower. By the seventies they were pushing Ayn Rand in all of the colleges such that by the mid seventies Rand’s “philosophy” was taking over at all levels of power. You end up with her version of economics for the forty five years having sway and control in every aspect of the economy. Friedman and Greenspan are devotees of Any Rand. Congress is over run with Randians. Business is over run with her disciples. All because some racists decided to throw all poor people under the bus rather than give blacks a fair shake. I have lived this all my life and it sickens me. What sickens me more is that they have turned Atlas Shrugged inside out and they are the corrupt government now that they have feared ever since Rand wrote the book.

Supply-side economics through tax cuts is what business depends on nowadays. Tax cuts seem to be just as important as profit.
