He mentions Milton Friedman twice during this. For those who don’t know, Milton Friedman was an economist who invented the con of Trickle Down Economics which he sold to Reagan, who used it to give enormous tax cuts to the richest, which put America much deeper in debt (after Reagan campaigned on eliminating our deficit). Friedman was a mean-spirited little man, who knowingly spread dishonest arguments, and sold out his profession of economics to become a paid shill and apologist for corporations that wanted no regulation of any kind, including safety standards.
He set the stage for the enormous wealth gap and the contempt the rich have for the poor today, as “takers”.
Friedman wanted to eliminate the minimum wage, Medicare and Social Security, which he said was “bad for the poor”, and opposed equal pay for equal work, and said that both women and blacks should refuse equal pay, “on principle”. Seriously. He argued that, and tried to convince an incredulous female audience.
He argued that car companies should have to pass No safety standards, and that “the best way to regulate car companies is to sue them after your loved one dies in a crash, not to require safety standards to begin with”. I’m serious. He actually made that case with a straight face; which shows you the kind of person he was. Sure; I’m happy to volunteer my loved ones to die in a fiery car crash and Then suing the car company afterwards as a way of regulating them, rather than demanding basic safety standards to begin with. Why did Friedman propose such ghoulish things? Could it be because he was a paid consultant for the companies he made these arguments for?
Friedman was an amoral man at best, and an evil man at worst, who sold his credibility and his profession out, for cash. Of which he made plenty. He did enormous damage to our country, the effects of which are still being felt today. Alt-right groups are now resurrecting him by posting and reposting his most mean-spirited clips, and holding him up as a “saviour” of our economy. Why they are doing this, as Friedman despised the poor and middle class and wanted no social safety nets for them, and no safety regulations on companies or their products of any kind, only they know.
“Put the Racism aside?” Dear sir the Racism is the main dish to all of the CRAZY. Look how they cut off An who gets to the heart of American hypocrisy. Fragilie MSNBC
